Thursday, August 28

On the final day of the 2008 International Leaders Forum, participants attended a panel — organized in partnership with the Center for U.S. Global Engagement — that featured international affairs advisors to the Obama presidential campaign. NDI board member and Virginia governor Mark Warner, who gave the keynote address at the Democratic convention, offered remarks at the 2008 ILF closing luncheon.

 

Wednesday, August 27

Participants at this day of the 2008 International Leaders Forum — organized in conjunction with the Rocky Mountain Roundtable, the Council on Foreign Relations and the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver — heard from panelists discussing how to enhance the role of the United States in world affairs, and addresing the continuing challenge of global poverty.

 

Tuesday, August 26

On the second day of ILF, guests listened to a panel of former international heads of state and government discuss how to ensure that democracy delivers, and later heard from pollsters about trends in public opinion during the 2008 United States presidential election.

 

Monday, August 25

The first full day of the 2008 ILF, August 25, featured panel discussions on United States politics, advertising in the U.S. presidential campaign, and perspectives on how the next U.S. president would govern. In the evening, ILF participants visited the Pepsi Center and observed the first night of speeches at the 2008 Democratic convention.

 

Sunday, August 24

This day of ILF featured a panel discussion on primaries, nominating conventions and
presidential debates, followed by a reception featuring remarks by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, NDI Chairman Madeleine K. Albright, NDI President Kenneth Wollack, and others.
